What kind of exercise program should I do and what should I eat?

I'm 18-year-old girl. I'm a ballet dancer and I want to lose about 15 pounds. I actually do have 15 pounds to lose. I'm not just a stupid anorexic. I have a kind of bulky muscular build. I'm curvy. I want to get more muscle definition, but I don't want my muscles to get bulky. I want them to be lean. What kind of body do you have and what has worked for you and your body type? What should I eat? I normally have scrambled eggs and hot chocolate for breakfast, a vegetarian Subway sandwich for lunch, and either cereal, grilled cheese sandwich, or some random thing for dinner. What types of foods do you think would to help me lose weight. I need lots of energy for my ballet rehearsals too. Please let me know what has helped you to lose weight and what you think would help me. Thanks! And I want to lose weight healthily. What kind of exercise program should I do and what should I eat?
Okay, so the first thing you need to do is eat healthier.... Looks to me like you are a vegetarian... you have to be careful on a veg diet... I am a vegetarian and i became very sick during my first year because I wasnt eating the right things.

You want to try to get all the protein you need, and still balance it our with your calorie intake and such... Instead of just grilled cheese for dinner, have a tomato soup to go with it. Add more vegetables, fruits, and legumes to your diet.

What I do as far as exercise goes is as follows

morning:

5:30 run 4 miles (2 there and back)

6:00 yoga (with exercise channel on TV)

6:30 breakfast (usually a homemade fruit shake, scrambled tofu, and a glass of orange juice)

then i go to school with an apple to go with my lunch

when i get home from school (4:00) I go to dance (Jazz and hip-hop)

evening

ride about 1-2 miles on my bike

walk around the city w/ friends

eat dinner (tonight it was string beans, brown rice, a veggie burger, baked potato, w/ strawberry's for dessert!)

then meditate for 20 minutes and go to sleep!

Hope my plan works for you... it did for me!

  • I ask if what i eat everyday is healthy... SORRY but please answer..!?

Ok sorry again for asking... But i want to know how it went today...!

    Breakfast: Strawberries

Lunch: Subway Sandwich: Wheat Bread, Grilled Chicken, Lettuce, Tomatoes. ( NO SAUCE) Still tasted good... LoL..!

Snack: No snack because i had a big lunch.

Dinner: Steamed Vegetables with a side salad.!

I actually feel very good FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING MY DIET.. So please answer... What i did wrong, If this is good/perfect.I ask if what i eat everyday is healthy... SORRY but please answer..!?
I think you did a good job! butttttt, you may want to consider eating more for breakfast. It is really the most important meal of the day and although strawberries are good for you, that alone isnt going to cut it for a healthy breakfast

but otherwise, it sounds like you did great :)I ask if what i eat everyday is healthy... SORRY but please answer..!?
you did a great job...as long as you dont eat a subway sanwich everyday because that can add up too...eat more vegetables, fruits, low fat cereal like special K or a whole wheat cereal, skim milk only

How long would it take to lose weight if I eat like this?

I am on a diet where I eat:

1x medium apple (or any type of fruit for breakfast)

    Dinner; 1x Subway wrap w/veggie patty w/ no dressing/salt/pepper.

    I also exercise:

40 minutes combining cardio and strength training (possibly longer than 40 minutes if I feel like it).

How long would it take for me to lose weight as I am eating and exercising like this? And how much weekly do you think?

My goal is to get to 104Ibs (I am currently 110, 4'11 in height)

Thanks. :)How long would it take to lose weight if I eat like this?
Well if that is all your eating you really need to start eating more. your body needs certain proteins and stuff you should try to have atleast 5 small snack type meals a day and when you start eating like that and sticking with healthy foods and cardio you should lose weight. it might also be harder for you to lose weight tho because you dont have much to lose 110 pounds is skinny and the smaller you are the harder it is to lose weightHow long would it take to lose weight if I eat like this?
Make adjustments. A successful weight loss strategy based on reducing calorie intake and increasing activity can be adjusted to maintain your desired weight once you reach it. Unlike typical diets, this method is sustainable -- it is a lifestyle change, not a binge-and-purge exercise. Slowly adjust your diet and exercise to include more weight training and calories, as much as is comfortable for you. If you do gain any weight back, you want that weight to be lean, toned muscle, not fat. In addition, weight training, no matter what your age, prevents muscle atrophy and can help stave off osteoporosis.

Instead of thinking of it as losing a certain amount of pounds, think of it as being a certain weight. So if you are 145 pounds, and you would like to lose 10 pounds, think of it as being 135 pounds. This helps you think about it as a long-term goal and not just losing the weight to gain it back again.

Why am i not losing weight?

i dont eat excessive amounts, i used to be a fat child in primary school but now im like 5 foot 8-9 and 12 stone, but in an average day i usually have my breakfast, a 6inch subway my tea, quite a lot if water and then random snacks like yoghurt ftuit etc... i dont really lead an unhealthy lifestyle i walk a lot to get to college i play football on sunday and do occasional football training sessions, but i just never lose weight, i have quite a big bum and a chubby stomach, i just want to lose weight in general but i dont have time to do excessive exercise, what should i do?Why am i not losing weight?
Review you diet, eat more protein than usual (and less carbs), having exercises (running, weightlifting, sports) will surelly help, but you don麓t need more than 1h doing that too. Just make a good planed diet, it should already bring some results (it is not fast, don麓t expect miracles in 7 days)

    Fitness Question?

I have been going to the gym now for about a month and a half. I go pretty much every day. Monday - Friday, and just do cardio on the weekends, like basketball. During that gym time I am there for about 2 - 3 hours. I do upper body for a while every other day, and cardio for the remaining time I am there. I play raquet ball for about an hour and a half with a few friends. My question is, why am I not seeing any results from the gym? Even the scale tells me I have not lost any weight, I have gained a few pounds. My diet is not bad. I guess I could eat a little more. I drink 2 cups of coffee during the day, and maybe a muffin for breakfast, and then Subway, or some dinner after I get out of the gym. I dont even see any physical change. In the gym I can tell its going well, I am stronger and my cardio has increased. Any ideas on why I am not shedding pounds, or looking slimmer?

    Thanks in advance..Fitness Question?
It takes awhile for some people to see results, espcially if you just started working out. I remember when I first started, I did not see any punds off until about 2 -3 months. It sucks but then, once you start loosing, you lose a good amount.

Your workout looks great. Sooooo just patience. It takes time.
I'm sure you actually have just gained muscle and lost inches. You won't really to be able to see a great deal of change in your body but in time you will. Most of the time, you gain some weight in the beginning but then the pounds start to fall off.Fitness Question?
you have gained muscle from toning so much at the gym.
You are not losing weight because you are gaining muscle mass , which weighs more than fat. And a guy with muscles is better and more attractive, so don't know why you are complaining. You are not looking slimmer because muscles are big and so you might even look a little bigger (muscle wise)
Muscle weighs more than fat. Always make sure you eat a well balanced breakfast it is the spark plug to get you running for the day! More frequent smaller balanced meals throughout the day instead of fewer larger meals might help you see better results too. Say 5-6 small meals. Make sure you are eating healthy and not junk. For snacks which are still okay if you eat more smaller meals should be healthy like a palm full of nuts (ie almonds or pecans) or a piece of fruit, or low fat cheese or something. It sounds like you are very active. Your body may have found a comfortable weight that keeps you healthy. If you don't eat enough your body will also store all the nutrients that are consumed in case it feels starved. The body knows to protect! It will try to protect itself by storing if the energy supply is down. I think the results you have noticed already are great and I would continue to go with what you are doing. Also remember that an overweight person will see results quicker than someone who is not overweight.

  • Im worried about my weight.?

Im a 20 year old male born and raised in california. I only weigh 138-140 pounds, but I'm 6.2

Im tired of looking this way, when I go to the gym to bulk up I am the thinest person in the ENTIRE building and I hate it. Im under the average so I must be unhealthy hence my concern...

It is also turning into slight financial problem, I actually cant afford to keep up with my metabolism. Im eating fast food 24/7 and not retaining an ounce of it, I eat 3 times a day and snack at home a lot.

Yesterday I had a breakfast sandwich at subway, Some beef jerkey a 30 minutes later, A fried chicken burger 2 hours later and then boston market for lunch. Then I came home, continued to snack, a couple glasses of milk and had a big dinner with my parents. I woke up the next morning feeling weak and fatigued, stepped on the scale and found I lost half a pound.

    wtf?Im worried about my weight.?
On average, people eating reasonable portions of balanced meals get

hungry about every three to five hours. Check the balance of foods you

eat. Refined carbohydrates like white rice, baked goods and most

crackers or pretzels are processed by the body fairly quickly. That

means that blood sugars go up and back down rapidly, tending to leave

you hungry again within two hours. Whole-grain breads and cereals are

processed more slowly and may leave you satisfied longer.

Studies show that hunger is satisfied longer when a meal or snack

includes a small amount of protein. That doesn't have to mean meat.

Protein is also found in milk, cheese, yogurt, tofu and other soy

products, eggs, nuts, seeds and dried beans.

Also, vegetables and fruits are missing from many Americans' meals,

yet they provide bulk that can help satisfy hunger.

Have you let a low fat diet get too low in fat? Fat leaves the stomach

very slowly, so a small amount of fat in a meal keeps hunger

    satisfied.

Finally, consider this: Are you actually physically hungry all the

time, or do you simply feel like eating? Eating when you're not hungry

can mean that eating has become a habit for coping with boredom,

procrastination or stress. If this is the case for you, the key is to

develop ways to handle these situations without food.

If you address all these possibilities and still feel hungry all the

time, talk with your physician. Constant hunger not related to any of

these factors could be due to medication or a medical problem that

    needs attention.
It is feasible to lose weight fast but you should be realistic and accept that if you lose weight rapidly then you will probably put it all back on again just as rapidly. I lost 7 pounds during the last couple of weeks when I had a special celebration to go to, and I did it by following the tips supplied on the site in the box below.Im worried about my weight.?
    Lift weights, buddy, lift weights.

Take it from me, I'm built just like you. Just work your shoulders and biceps alot, even if you dont gain much weight these muscles will make you look bigger. At the gym be sure to do lots of sets with descending amounts of weight. Skinny guys tend to have lots of endurance, so you have to do lots of sets with different weights to really break down the muscle.
It may be the balance in your diet that has you fatigued. Even if you're processing food rapidly and not retaining fat because of your metabolism, things like fried chicken burgers and eating fast food 24/7 are going to make you feel bad. I don't put on much weight either but if I have fast food more than once or twice a week it does leave me feeling pretty bad.

If you really want to put on weight, you'd be best served by eating more food than most, but trying to still keep it balanced. For lean mass eat lots of chicken, tuna and so forth. Protein shakes and the like might also not be a bad idea.

Other than that, just try to enjoy it! Between 20 and 22 I went from about where you are (though I'm a bit shorter) to the point I'm at now, where I still don't get fat but I can stack an extra 10-15 pounds of muscle on my frame. So it may just be a question of waiting for your body to finish growing.
shoveling garbage in your mouth is counter productive. your wasting your time in the gym if your eating fast food all the time. eat lean proteins and eat more whole grains and carbs. you feel weak and fatigued because your diet sucks. dont trust what scales say either, they can vary between 5-15 pounds depending on what time of the day you weigh yourself and on different days.

ps- beef jerky is actually really good for you. the "jerkying" process eliminates almost all of the fat and leaves just a big piece of protein
