What can i improve on? Does this sound like a good meal plan so far or what can i do to make it better? I'm a vegetarian, so that's why there's no meat :)This is what i ate the last 2 days, is it a good start?
No, it is not a good meal plan because you are not eating enough. Your body will go into starvation mode, which means that it will conserve, and try to hang on to every calorie you consume. Your brain will think you are starving, and will try to prevent weight loss and will hold onto fat. You will also lose your energy for any type of exercise, you won't be able to concentrate, and you will damage your internal organs. Even on the strictest diet you need at least 1200 calories a day, and more likely 1500 calories a day.

You need to include more protein and more complex carbohydrates in your food plan. Include hummus, soy products, nuts, dried fruit, whole grain breads and cereals, cheese, yogurt. These links can help you figure it out.
sounds good, except for the mayo and cheese. This is what i ate the last 2 days, is it a good start?
that was pretty good. mayo is really unhealthy, if you want to lose weight you shouldn't have mayo a lot because it is high in fat and cholestrol.
if you substitute skim milk for 2% you'll lose a ton of weight.

also, either eliminate the mayo, or you can use lite mayo rather than regular mayo to lose some more calories.

if you're drinking ice tea, make sure you don't add sugar!
You need more protein and more iron. Get a multivitamin. Use soy products. If you still like dairy products get some whey protein and make some fruit smoothies.
About 6 weeks ago, I started using the sparkpeople.com website. Very helpful, useful information. The best part - it's FREE! You can track all of your food %26amp; exercise, plus it tells you how many calories, carbs, fat %26amp; protein you should have on a daily basis! I would highly recommend checking it out!

Usually when we start a "diet" we've got plenty of motivation %26amp; slowly go back to our own ways. I suggest not starting a "diet" but a healthy lifestyle. What you've done so far, sounds good. I'm just wondering about protein??? Not sure about how much you've had of that.

Good luck!
Its great your vegetarian, but the sodium that is in cheese and mayo, sandwiches etc. are what holds on to water so if you want to lose try to eat foods with very very low sodium and do aerobics to sweat out the salt. Water weight is more harmful than fat and most people's problem is water not fat...but the doctor's wont tell you that..cant make money off not eating salt.. hope this helps:)

It's a pretty good start, but here are a few tips.

Switch to skim milk, but if that's too difficult, switch to 1%. The taste difference is minimal and there's considerably less fat.

Instead of butter on the baked potato, try fat free sour cream. It tastes a little bit more like you're indulging, but again, has considerably less fat than butter.

Are there any sauces that you like other than mayo? Maybe mustard? Hellman's makes a great reduced fat mayo, but in restaurants everything is full-fat, so it's not as healthy.

Ice tea.....hmmmm. If it's sweetened tea (in the US) or Nestea (in Canada), then the sugar content is through the roof. It would be a great idea to have milk with you lunch, because you're a vegetarian and milk provides protein, which you are sorely lacking.

Instead of having the apples with your lunch, maybe try them as a mid morning snack. Do you like yogurt? "Source" yogurt is great because it's low fat and low sugar. If you spoon a bit of wheat germ in, it's a bit heartier and fills you up more.

Drink lots of water.

You really need to up the protein if you want to lose weight. There are many great options for vegetarians, but they're sometimes hard to find. Try having two hard boiled eggs (don't eat the yolks). Have a veggie burger. Yogurt and milk are both great sources of protein. Buy the "weight control" oatmeal instead of the regular stuff. It's lower in sugar and has double the amount of protein.

Hope that helps!
